The time keeper: Book Review

If you only have time to read one more book in 2013, READ THIS BOOK!

Beautifully written. Poignant. Life changing.

One of my favorite lines from the book is “A heart weighs more when it splits in two; it crashes in the chest like a broken plane.”

This is the story of the first person, Dor, who attempted to measure time. ย And the punishment he must endure for his actions.

The ramifications of his actions trickling through humanity. And he must reach out to two people who cry out for more time and less time.

The author captures the angst of a teen and the fear of an elderly man so perfectly that the characters live and breathe on the page. As a reader, I identified with all three of the protagonists.

It is a brilliantly executed fable that sucks the reader in from the first line and keeps them immersed in the story until the very end.

It was one of the most meaningful books I’ve read and one I think I’ll reread in years to come when I need perspective on time and what truly matters in life.

  1. I’ve always been a fan of Mitch Albom’s writing. My mom always said I was a good listener, so I followed your instructions and promptly headed over to Amazon and loaded this on to my Kindle. I can’t wait to read it. Thanks, Kourtney!

When you start a review with “If you only have time to read one more book in 2013, READ THIS BOOK!” How can we resist? Thanks for telling us about it!

I saw your review on Goodreads, andI’ve read a couple of other Mitch Albmom’s novels, so added it to my to-read list straight away ๐Ÿ™‚

    • How cool! That’s so nice to hear. I try to cross post to Amazon and Goodreads. Not that Albom needs any help–he’s got hundreds of reviews. But I still like to spread the word on a great novel. ๐Ÿ™‚

Hey Kourtney, Can you tell me which tense it’s written in? I’ve accidentally bought a couple books that are written in the present tense, and I just can’t seem to stay interested in those. If it’s past tense, the story sounds great. Thanks for the recommend.

Fab suggestion and review, Kourtney. This one sounds like a good mix of low-key sci-fi and drama.

  10. I loved this book, Kourtney. You did an excellent summary and review. The line about the weight of a breaking heart is one of my favorites, too.
