I <3 bookclubs.
Seriously, if you are in a bookclub and your group wants to read my book, I’m happy to come to any discussion in person or via Skype for as long as you’d like.
I’ll send you author swag too. And personalize books. You are the best readers and I want to thank you for supporting me and my novel.
Just shoot me an email at kourtney(dot)heintz(at)yahoo.com and we can set up things.

This week is a bit hectic so I won’t be online much.
I’m traveling to Washington, DC on September 18th to give a free workshop at 7 pm at the Cascades Library in Potomac Falls, VA on how to be a part time writer.
September 19th, I’m enroute back to CT. Then September 20th out to Mystic, CT to prepare for CT Fiction Fest on September 21st where I will be giving a workshop on writing good love scenes.
Then back home on the evening of September 21st to prepare for my author talk and reading at the ย Silas Bronson Library in Waterbury, CT on September 24th.

And big news, I just locked in an NYC venue. It’s in lower Manhattan in my old neighborhood. October 23rd from 6:30-8:30 pm. There will be free wine, cheese, and fruit. We’re working out all the details but it will involve an author reading, book signing, sale of my photography from the book, and a fun giveaway. Stay tuned for more details.

Book sales for August were 47 copies, which would be disappointing if I didn’t spend the first two weeks processing the preorders from Butternut’s fabulous July sales. I did break the 500 total copies sold mark though so yay to that! ๐
Congrats on those terrific numbers! Good luck on the hectic week.
Thanks. No matter how I try to schedule things, opportunities tend to pop up close together. I’m learning to just go with it. ๐
Happy and safe travels, Kourtney. Enjoy D.C.! I lived in the suburbs of D.C. for forty years, it’s a great city.
Thanks Jill! I went to undergrad there way back in the day. It’s nice to visit–so many memories there. ๐
Glad you mentioned photos in your book! Please help me answer the question about the house on the cover. Is it located in the Butternut area? We all think it is a house we have seen, but are unable to identify the location. Help, Help!
Hi Maxine! Happy to help. I didn’t have any good shots of white farmhouses in the area from my 2010 Butternut visit. So my mom and I went on a road trip through the hills of Connecticut. We stumbled on this one out in Woodbury, CT. The trees in the background are my parent’s back yard. ๐
Woo hoo! Congrats! Something like almost 90% of books published sell less than one hundred copies (or so I’ve read), so good on you. ๐
Thanks Carrie! My goal is to break the 1000 copies sold mark this year. ๐ I’m thrilled that I broke 100 in my first month! And 500 in my 4th month of sales.
You Are Busy Person. Keep It Up. Ur Getting The Book Out All Over Country. Hard Work Great Reward.
Thanks. I’m lucky I have my supportive parents to help me or none of this would be possible. ๐
Can’t wait ’till Wednesday! ๐ It’s going to be fun to get to talk in person!
Me too! Thank you so much for coming out to this event. I had no idea it was not the easiest hop skip and a jump from the city. It’s awesome to go from online to in person. ๐
If Metro’s new Silver Line was complete, it would have been a much simpler hop and skip for you. ๐ That line will run to Dulles and some more-northerly suburbs. You’re arriving just a bit ahead of their schedule. ๐
LOL. Is that like the 2nd avenue line in New York? They’ve talked about it for decades. Started building it. But who knows when it will be up and running. ๐ It’s only 25 miles from the city. I should have looked into transportation earlier. I just assumed a car service because I use them all the time in NY and LA. I’m glad something made me check last night.
This is actually nearing completion, at least from Falls Church to Dulles. They’re running test trains on the tracks, and the first leg is scheduled to open at the end of this year. We’ll see! ๐
Wow, that sounds pretty close to done. ๐ I lived in DC from 1995-2000 and my friends had cars. I never had to deal with the logistics of getting beyond the metro area without a car. Spoilt I know. ๐
Congrats! I think the book club circuit is a great idea. If I hear about any I’ll be sure to recommend your book.
Thanks Kitt! I’ve had a few book clubs read my book and I’m always delighted to join in or send swag. ๐ Thank you so much–I really appreciate it!
I’m not part of a book club but I would like to read your book! I’m currently reviewing a couple of friends manuscripts but I’ll buy a copy as soon as I’ve finished – promise ๐
Thanks Gemma! I love all my readers. Bookclubs are awesome because you get to talk to several readers in one spot at the same time. ๐ Aw, thank you. And feel free to email me if you want to chat about the book when you’re done. I’m still digging myself out of the piles of books that gathered dust when I was launching my book, so I understand having other stuff to get through first. ๐
So busy and so fabulous! Good for you Kourtney. I know it can be exhausting but I hope you are enjoying all of it. Congrats on the book sales. Oh and thanks for the insight on how you got the picture for the cover. That was a neat tidbit to learn ๐ Have fun in DC and safe travels!!
It’s been busy busy here. I do try to pause for a minute and enjoy what I am doing. But there’s so much work and it keeps coming.Never worked harder. ๐ That’s part of my author talk too. People are very curious about the cover. Thanks! Looking forward to DC, though I’m only in the city 26 hours and then back to CT for CT Fictionfest.
happy travels miss K heart xxx
geesh what a TONNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN of fun
soak it all in like the sun xxxxx
LOVE XX C
Thanks Catherine. ๐ I have some fun along the way, but it’s work. The traveling, the preparing for the workshops, and the trying to sell books. ๐
Hugs,
k
Yay for great numbers! I’m so excited for you, and what a busy schedule you have. Keep taking good care of yourself!
Thanks! Yeah, I just stopped and counted. I will have slept in 8 different beds in less than 4 weeks. May need to slow down a little bit. ๐ October has me in NY and TO for events so far.
The words “free wine, cheese, and fruit” got my attention ๐ If only NYC was closer. 500 books is a great milestone but I’m not surprised, the number will grow still.
Lol. That’s the hope. ๐ Aw I wish you were closer too! Thanks. I’m doing my best to spread the word. ๐
500! That’s wonderful. You’re working so hard and deserve your success! Best wishes…
Thank you Kelly! I’m really thrilled to be where I am. Somedays it seems like I can’t sell a book and other days several sell. It’s a crazy ride but I’m glad I’m on it. ๐
Such awesome stuff in the works, Kourtney! I hope your promotions lead you to LA one of these days – and we must consider a MN/WI joint event. ๐ (Like you need more on your plate! LOL One day… We’ll make it happen!)
Thanks August! I may be out there for a book club event in October. If I am, I’ll let you know. ๐ Definitely want to do a MN/WI event too. LOL. Yeah, it’s been an incredibly hectic week. I get a little break from traveling Sept 25-Oct 3. Then it’s back on the road again. ๐
Congratulations on hitting 500 – still in awe of your whirlwind schedule…
Thanks Andrea! This week it hit me hard. Lots of asthma issues. Going to take it down a notch or two after my next event. ๐
Keep up the great work. Breaking 500 is brilliant. My reading has tailed off over the last few months, but Six Train is next in the queue!
