I devoured Jennifer Fusco’s second book in her Market or Die series in a couple days. This book leverages the work you did with her first book on author branding and discusses how to use the power of your brand.
Jennifer provides a good overview of the social medial platforms available for brand building. She even devotes an entire chapter to connecting brand with readers while avoiding the social media time suck. I highlighted her top ten brand management must-do’s for Facebook.
In this book, Jenniferย talks about cultivating an audience to make your novels more in demand. She introduces the concept of brand advocates. As someone who hates to blow my own horn, I was highly intrigued by the idea of others advocating on my behalf.
I’ll be moving on to her next book in January.
Thanks Jennifer for helping me get my foot in the door of branding and promotion. ๐

On a side note, many thanks to jm mcdowell for tagging me in The Next Big Thing. I did a post in November for it so I’ll just link back to it. Here’s my Next Big Thing Q&A.
I put this one on my wishlist, too. Thanks! ๐
It’s a great tool for marketing. So glad I knew Jen and could go to her books to start learning how to brand and market myself and my book. ๐
Others advocating on our behalfโI like that idea. And it sounds like it should work well in the blogging community. Many of us are modest about touting our own work, but are happy to share the works of our blog buddies, whether through interviews, book reviews, or publicizing new releases. I should add these books to my library. (I finally downloaded the Emotion Thesaurus.)
And see? All these tags for the Next Big Thing show there’s an interested audience and marketing team already in place for you. ๐
Me too! I agree. It’s one of the reasons I try to do book reviews and host guest bloggers. If I like something/someone I shout it from the rooftops. LOL. They are pretty short reads. Easy to do in a sitting. I still have to get that book!
Thanks! Lots of hope that there will be an audience for my book. ๐ And that it will be good enough to get people talking about it. I think it’s ready, but there is always the fear of writer bias. ๐
I read book 1. it waas well done. thx for the tip
Glad you liked it. I appreciated her common sense approach and her informal way of teaching where I didn’t even realize I was learning, but I was. ๐
Hey – K Heart writer lady …………

Aw Catherine! Thanks so very much. ๐ I’m exploring Createspace to create a really good interior format. I want it to be something the reader enjoys visually. ๐
Love you lots too! XOXOXOXO
Any tips on avoiding the social media time suck gets my vote ๐ Thanks for the recommendation.
I feel the same way. ๐ Hope you enjoy it!
Thanks for the review. It sounds like a great book. I’ll have to get it. You said this is the 2nd book?
Happy to share good info. ๐ It’s a short book and it reads like a workshop you attend. This is. I reviewed the first book here: http://kourtneyheintz.wordpress.com/2012/12/28/market-or-die-book-review/. ๐
Thanks for the other book. I put them both on my To-Read list. The info in them is just what I need.
Glad to help. It’s hard to find good stuff on author branding and Jennifer really tailors her marketing knowledge to an author’s needs. ๐
Publish or perish, market or die. Interesting! Thank you for sharing, Kourtney! ๐
Subhan Zein
LOL. Seriously that’s what it feels like. ๐ Glad you enjoyed the review.
