Mental Health Days

Do you ever feel tuckered out? You don’t have to be doing alot. Or you could just be coming off oodles of stress. But I feel like I’ve been burning my candle at both ends for months. So I am going to scale back the blog to 4 days a week for August and September. I’ve got a move to plan, conferences to attend, and a friend staying with me. I also have to submit queries and prepare proposals, and keep up on my reading.

I have decided that my weekday blog posts will drop back to four a week and the fifth will be my mental health day, when I don’t blog. I love blogging, but I think I am stretching myself too thin. Moving is way more stress than I remembered. Well my whole entire life is changing and that’s exciting and scary. I am worried. I hope I’m doing the right thing. You never know until way after the decision is made. Hindsight is so freaking useless. But I’ll do what I always do–push forward.

Do you take mental health breaks? How do you cope when everything gets to be too much?

We all need mental health days. Just today, I slipped on some wet leaves out in back of my home. The rain had them soaked and soggy. I fell flat on my hip and it aches all through the bone. After that happened, I went inside to discover that I was out of pain killers. I decided to spend the remainder of the day in bed. What a folly!

Trust your heart. Try writing. If it does not work out move to Georgia. Atlanta is great. Cheap to live. Good jobs. Don’t give up. But do rest. Blog less and enjoy your life. It’s over before we know it.

I think we all know how stressful life can be and sometimes we just need a break. The past few months have been extremely stressful for me too and, knowing how stressful a move can be, I can only say you are absolutely right taking more time for yourself and cutting back. Don’t worry about your blog posts; it’s quality over quantity and your blog just rocks! I’ve learned so much from your posts on writing, I can’t thank you enough. And I think that even if you only wrote a single post a week, it would still be a much better blog than most other blogs out there 🙂

    • Thanks Emma! That was so nice of you to say. Yeah, I thought 4 times a week would be better, but I’m still struggling to get them posted. Life speeds up when you have too many things going on at once. I don’t know how I used to write and work a full time job. I’m thrilled to know you enjoy my posts. 🙂
