Why I love New York

My right hand is bothering me from a minor neck problem so instead of another wordspastic post, I figured I’d share some of the reasons I love New York…

The New York Stock Exchange knows how to light up the night…

The architecture and hidden oasises (is that a word?)

The brownstones of Brooklyn

Top of the Rock lightshow that responds to movement

Cherry Blossoms at Brooklyn Botanic Gardens

What do you love about New York?

My new love in New York is the Highline. It’s brilliant design! Wonderful to see folks of all ages and sensibilities come and go above the streetscape of 10th Avenue.

    • Haven’t been over there. I heard it’s very cool. 🙂
When I go to the park, I like to bring my dog so we tend to spend time in Battery Park and along the esplanade which are closer to where we live

Sorry to read that your neck is bothering you again. But on the upside, we get to see great pictures 😉 You really take amazing photos; I think the one with the New York Stock Exchange is my favorite.

I love New York, because of its energy. New York is my psychologist. I don’t have an actual psychologist, but I have New York. Every time I go there I feel like I’ve had a 100 hours of psychotherapy. If I am depressed, all I need is a dose of NYC. Energy, energy and more energy! The past few days I spent in NY, I woke up every morning, and literary yelled out of my hotel window: I LOVE you NY. I love you.

    • Maryam, beautifully said. It’s clear why your manuscript got requested by agents at the conference! 🙂 After a year living away from the city, New York brought me back to life and helped me put things in perspective on this visit. There’s a definite magic to the city. So glad we had the chance to meet and lunch together.

  4. Hi Kourtney, I couldn’t believe this post when I saw it–I love it. How fortunate I was to stumble upon your blog! The reason I love New York is all in this post: http://naomibaltuck.wordpress.com/2012/03/29/unique-new-york/

    • Hi Naomi! So glad you enjoyed it. New York was my home for many years. I saw so many wonderful things. Sure there were tough moments and bad times too, but overall I still love New York. 🙂

  5. These photos are beautiful! You have a great eye for color and composition. Do you get back to NYC often?

    • Thanks Naomi! I love taking pictures. I just migrated 32,000 photos to my new laptop (pics I took just from 2007-2012). I try to go in for writing conferences and to see my friends and cousins who still live there. Probably 4-6 times a year. I can still navigate myself all over the city. But it’s not quite the same as living there. 😉

      • Hi Kourtney, I’ve created a link from your post “I Love New York” to “Unique New York”, so my visitors can go see even more of the city.

        • Thanks so much Naomi! I hope they enjoy my pics. Yours are so fun to look at. I felt like I was right along side your family having a quintessential New York experience! 🙂

          • Thank you! What I find interesting is that the posts complement each other so well–different views of the same city.

          • Very true. I tried to sum up some of the hidden treasures found over the years. Your post reminded me cool Times Square can be when you don’t commute through there at rush hour for work everyday. 🙂
